SAFTA Award for Outstanding Person With A Disability Contributor

Artscape is extremely proud that one of our associate colleagues, Cape Town TV presenter Jabaar Mohamed, who as a person with a hearing disability, has been awarded a SAFTAs (South Africa Film and Television Awards). He was bestowed with the Golden Horn Discretionary award for Outstanding Person With A Disability Contributor. The event was held at a glittery ceremony  at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Johannesburg recently.  His work on the Cape Town TV show, Accessibility with Jabaar finally reaped a deserving reward. Jabaar had this to say about his recent accolade specifically thanking Artscape’s CEO Marlene le Roux: “I want to thank you for making this possible. I contacted you for tips and guides for my TV Show name, and you the one who gave the name “ Accessibility With Jabaar” during the COVID time when I was asked by CTV for a name I was not sure that I need to be serious… then you said create my name (Jabaar)and I was very surprise coz (sic) I never want to create my name because I was focused on the community show.” Having achieved this accolade, Jabaar acknowledged the mentorship, support and guidance received from Artscape CEO, Marlene Le Roux. He went on to say “I am so happy and proud to get to know you Marlene, you such a leader and such a role model for us all in South Africa and internationally.”

We wish Jabaar and all SAFTA 2023 winners the best of success.
