Tribute to Sandy Mokwena

Artscape Theatre Centre celebrates the life of veteran-actor Sandy Mokwena, known on world theatre stages for his role of Cappie in the hit musical Ipi Tomib from 1972 – 1984. He may now have left us but his memory and legacy will live on forever.

“Bra Sandy”, as he is affectionately known was of course currently known for his role as Bra Eddie Khumalo in the e.tv soapie, Scandal! – a character he played since 2005, the soapie’s longest standing cast member.

“Bra Sandy held a Higher Diploma in  Dramatic Art which he received from the Royal Academy Drama Association, England, United Kingdom.

He appeared in numerous other television series including Okavango, Generations, Khululeka, Soul City, Going Up, Yizo Yizo, Justice for All and Zero Tolerance.

His feature films incude Taxi to Soweto (1992), The Principal (1996), Dead End (1999) and Scarback (2000).
