The National Department of Arts and Culture on Disability Committee visited Artscape Theatre Centre on 14 August. The Committee comprises of pioneers in various government and heritage sectors, with the aim of driving policy and accessibility for persons with disabilities. As part of the visit, the Committee conducted a site tour of Artscape Theatre Centre, presented with the exciting renovations taking place at the cultural institution, as part of Artscape Theatre Centre’s commitment to provide greater access to the Arts for persons with disabilities.
The Committee members include Lidia Pretorius (Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Department of Social Development), Sizakwele Shongwe (National Department of Arts & Culture – Chief Director: Social Cohesion, Nation Building & Target Groups), Charmaine Monareng (National Arts Council SA, Arts Development Officer: Dance), Rosemary Mangope (CEO: National Arts Council), Nomatshayina Mfeketho-Noah (Unit Manager Schools & Public Programmes, Public Heritage Department, Robben Island Museum) and Marlene Le Roux (CEO: Artscape Theatre Centre).
