Artscape CEO Marlene le Roux has been honoured as the inaugural recipient of Heart FM Radio’s Lifetime Achiever Award, presented as part of the station’s Women at Heart Awards.
The award, bestowed through the support and recognition of Heart FM’s loyal listeners, celebrates Ms Le Roux’s lifelong commitment to advancing the rights, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities, with a particular focus on the empowerment of women.
Deeply humbled by the honour, Ms Le Roux said the award holds special significance as a woman living with a disability and as someone who continues to advocate for greater equity, equality and inclusion.
“I am deeply humbled to be the first-ever recipient of Heart FM Radio’s inaugural Lifetime Achiever Award, part of their ‘Women at Heart Awards’, bestowed on me by the station’s loyal listeners.”
Receiving the award during Women’s Month, Ms Le Roux dedicated the recognition to women with disabilities who continue to overcome barriers and work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of others.
“I receive this award on behalf of all persons with disabilities who, together with me, continue to champion our rights, more specifically women’s rights,” she said. “We are still in Women’s Month, where every small achievement is a step closer to equity, equality and inclusion.”
Ms Le Roux also dedicated the award to Lief en Leed for Persons with Disabilities in Mamre, a 40-year-old NGO of which she is Patron. The organisation is working towards establishing a Centre of Excellence that will serve not only persons with disabilities, but the broader marginalised community in the area.
“They are working with great commitment towards a Centre of Excellence that will serve not only persons with disabilities, but the broader, marginalised community around them. They need your help!” said Ms Le Roux.
Artscape congratulates Ms Le Roux on this significant and well-deserved recognition and celebrates her continued leadership, advocacy and dedication to building a more inclusive society.
She also extended her congratulations to all the fellow recipients of the Women at Heart Awards and expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the listeners, management and presenters of Heart FM for recognising and celebrating the courage and contribution of strong women.
