Celebrate the Artscape Women’s Humanity Festival 2025 (AWHF) with us from 25 July through August 31, coinciding with South Africa’s Women’s Month . In association with Woman Zone under the theme “Peace in action – Working together”, the festival emphasises healing, inclusion, and active peace‑building across diverse communities .
The festival boasts six Icons of Peace—six individuals celebrated for embodying courage, dialogue and healing: Judge Albie Sachs; Prof. Virginia Davids; Thembi Mshali‑Jones; Sue Williamson; Fahruq Valley‑Omar and the late Professor Nomvula Mthethwa.
Central to the Festival is National Women’s Day on the 09 August that sees featured art installations, theatre, dance, film, wellness activations, community stalls, and free health screenings—including stalls by groups like Cancer Alliance and Woman Zone’s Knit & Natter. The highlight of the day centres on the Humanity Walk – a symbolic procession of camaraderie – in the building where interfaith leaders bless the gathering, followed by keynote speeches, performances, petition‑hand‑overs, and interactive art moments featuring the movable Wire Woman statue adorned with paper doves carrying messages of peace .
The inclusive month-long festival showcases a powerful tapestry of voices, arts, music, literature, and lived experience inclusive of feminist theatre and literary activism, community exhibitions, story cafés, and more.
