DESCRIPTION:The Sufi Caravan is a synthesis of the vast oceans of poetry\, music\, and mysticism\, celebrating the legacy of Amir Khusro (1252 – 1325) who had the distinction of being a sufi\, poet\, litterateur\, philosopher and music maestro. He is widely respected as a Hindi\, Farsi and Braj Bhasha (medieval literary Hindi) poet who evolved a unique diction and an inimitable language\, for his literary expression. In the musical realm\, Khusro created many ragas\, developed khayal\, tarana\, qaul\, (vocal genres)\, qawwali\, and also invented the tabla and sitar\, two instruments that clearly distinguish and characterise Indian music from others. Based in Delhi\, he was a star pupil of the great Sufi master Hazrat Nizamuddin Awliya\, and is said to have died of grief within six months of his master’s passing.
