DESCRIPTION:CAPE TOWN’S MOST WANTED – The Best of Cape Town’s Street Dance in one night. \nThis will be the 10th production of Cape Town’s Most Wanted.  It has grown extensively in popularity each year and constantly brings new audiences to the Artscape Theatre every year with sold out performances. Produced by The Dance Project and Triple C\, it provides a platform for audiences to get to see the best of Cape Town’s Hip Hop dancers\, choreographers and dance crews – from right across Cape Town and beyond\, in one performance. \nThis is no competition but a “co-creation” where the whole of Cape Town works together to bring out its best.  It is a unique opportunity to experience live and raw\, on one stage\, in one performance\, the unique styles with all genres showing their dynamic diversity\, stunning creativity\, mind-blowing technique and sheer swagger-bility.  These are the best of Cape Town’s Hip Hop dancers as they exude their passion\, joy and excitement in Cape Town’s Most Wanted.  This unique show boasts a lot of talented dancers and teams who have been representing themselves proudly in national and international dance competitions over the time period of 2020-2022. SUMMARY:Dreaming Dance in District Six: The Johaar Mosaval Story
DESCRIPTION:Dreaming Dance in District Six: The Johaar Mosaval Story\, is a celebratory dance production co-directed by Basil Appollis and choreographer Grant van Ster.  Among the guest artists performing tributes will be Joburg Ballet\, Jazzart\, Figure of 8 Dance Collective and a cast of talented young dancers from Cape Town.  Audiences will also be treated to a multimedia experience that will share key moments from Dr. Mosaval’s dance and life journey. \nDr. Mosaval\, who recently turned 95\, grew up in District Six as the eldest of ten children. During the apartheid era he left South Africa  to pursue his dance dream and went on to carve out an illustrious career as a Senior Principal dancer with London’s Royal Ballet between the 1950s and 1970s.  Johaar\, a living legend\,  was also the first person of colour to dance at the Nico Malan Theatre (now Artscape).

DESCRIPTION:Following on the heels of a wonderful festive season\, Cape Town City Ballet presents the folk fairytale of the sweet-tempered Cinderella\, a young woman with a heart of gold who is left in the care of her two ungainly\, forgetful & generally disagreeable step-sisters\, Violet & Daffodil\, contributing to Cinderella’s woes. \nRelegated to the role of a kitchen maid in her own home\, she scrubs and cleans all day dressed in rags. \nThe Prince who lives in the castle across town\, decides to hold a magnificent ball in search of the perfect bride\, and sends invitations out far and wide …. Cinderella is unable to attend the ball….she has nothing to wear anyway! \nThen magic happens…. Enter a Fairy Godmother and her miracle wand\, Cinderella goes to the ball in a beautiful ballgown and a fantastical carriage. The twist in the story is that she must promise to return home by midnight when the carriage will turn back into a pumpkin. Dancing the night away in a whirl of glamour with the prince the clock starts to strike midnight\, and Cinderella flees home inadvertently leaving one of her crystal slippers behind. \nThe lost slipper is found …… and a nationwide search ensues for the golden girl to whom the slipper belongs …… a gloriously happy ending emerges in which Cinderella and her Prince live happily ever after! \nThe beautiful dancers of CAPE TOWN CITY BALLET delight in bringing their audiences this magical and uplifting tale where good always prevails. Audiences will be treated to a sparkling & captivating journey of magic and wonderment and all the feel-good moments of the summer season! \nThe CAPE TOWN PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA appears at select performances.

DESCRIPTION:New World Dance Theatre will be performing Rooted Within as part of their fundraiser for their USA tour with the Karlovsky & Company Dance. NWDT were invited to collaborate with an American Company (Karlovsky & Company Dance) in a performance and teaching exchange in March 2020. Due to the pandemic the exchange project was put on hold. Resilience is a collaborative performance with  invited guest dance companies and studios from Cape Town. With this collaborative  performance we are hoping to raise sufficient funds so that we are able to continue the relationship with the Karlovsky & Company Dance.
